Ferrous sulfate heptahydrate, commonly known as green alum, blue-green crystal, is an inorganic compound. The melting point is 64℃, and the six molecules of crystal water are lost at 90℃, which is gradually weathered and oxidized in the air and is yellowish brown. Soluble in water, glycerin, insoluble in ethanol. Irritating to the human respiratory tract, inhalation causes coughing and shortness of breath. Irritating to the eyes, skin and mucous membranes.

Application:

1. Used as water purification agent, such as drinking water, industrial sewage, wastewater water treatment coagulant. When used for industrial sewage and urban sewage treatment, it can remove phosphate in urban sewage and industrial sewage and prevent water eutrophication. Ferrous sulfate is often used as coagulant in turbidity-water treatment. It is a strong reducing agent, which can reduce he hexavalent chromium in the aqueous chromium wastewater of the electroplating plant to trivalent chromium, instead of expensive sodium sulfite, sodium bisulfite, sulfur dioxide and so on. Water treatment agent ferrous sulfate can be used both dry and wet, and must be mixed evenly after dosing. The pH value should be neutral or weakly alkaline, will not cause secondary pollution, and the water treatment effect is good. The amount should be determined according to the quality of water.

2. Used in industry for making iron salt, ink, iron oxide red and indigo, gas purification agent.

3. Used for making ink, pigment, etc. 

4. Used in medicine as a local astringent and blood tonic. The iron it contains is the raw material for the synthesis of hemoglobin in the body.
