Devin Haney vs Teofimo Lopez !!! Boxing matches start in Saudi Arabia in August
Devin Haney, the lightweight champion of the top four organizations, and Teofimo Lopez Jr., the current WBO lightweight middleweight champion, are about to play in Saudi Arabia on August 16th.
It is reported that the match between Haney and Lopez will be held at 145 pounds, and both teams have agreed to participate in random drug testing conducted by the Voluntary Anti Doping Association (VADA).
Devin Haney (32-0, 15 KO, 1 N) is 26 years old this year, with a height of 173cm and an arm span of 183cm. He started his professional boxing career in 2015 and won the WBC lightweight world championship in 2019. In June 2022, he won the WBA, WBC, IBF, and WBO lightweight world championship gold belts by defeating George Kambosos Jr in points. In October of the same year, he successfully defended his title by winning points again in a second match against Kambosos Jr. In May 2023, he defeated Vasily Lomachenko in points to defend his four major organization championship titles again. In December of the same year, he defeated Regis Prograis in points to win the WBC Super Lightweight World Championship gold belt. In April 2024, he suffered a shocking point loss to Ryan Garcia, but due to Garcia's failed drug test after the game, the result was changed to no result. Just defeated Jose Ramirez in May this year.
Teofimo Lopez (22-1, 13 KO) is 27 years old
with a height of 171cm and a wingspan of 174cm. He started his professional
boxing career in 2016 and won the IBF lightweight world championship title in
2019. In 2020, he won the WBA, IBF, and WBO lightweight world championship gold
belt by defeating Vasily Lomachenko with explosive points. In 2021, he suffered
a shocking point loss to George Kambosos Jr. and has recently won six
consecutive games. In 2023, he defeated Josh Taylor to win the WBO light
middleweight championship gold belt. He has defended his title three times,
defeating Jamaine Ortiz and Steve Claggett respectively. He just won Arnold
Barboza Jr. in May this year.
